Yesterday I noticed that the Sherway Gardens mall in Toronto's west end is due to see the opening of this city's third Apple Store. Is this some kind of revolution? How many other cities have multiple Apple Stores? Way cool. So far only Los Angeles has three stores. It's a tremendous step for Apple to make in our town, considering the lack of decent frontline retailers for Apple computers. Apple has proven that they know best how to market and build their products, and they are proving now that they know best how to sell them to the consumer, too. The only downside is that there are no other Apple Stores in Canada.

Diesel Wins at Le Mans
Diesel Wins at Le Mans
"Over the past weekend, in front of a record 235,000 spectators, the Audi R10 took first place in the 24 hours at Le Mans, arguably the world's premier endurance racing event. This marks the most significant victory yet for a diesel-powered car in a major racing event, and possibly an important turning point in the perception (held by many Americans) that diesels are noisy, stinky, and slow: the Audis were the quietest, cleanest, and fastest cars in the race. Significantly, they were also the most fuel efficient." (kuro5hin)
Starlings are the coolest birds if only for their swarming flock tendencies... They look like a horde of mad bees when they waft around, like something an animator would come up with or a Hollywood special effects department.

Why the Pepsi Challenge doesn't work. As an inveterate Coca-Cola drinker (diet only these days, but the love is still there), I've known this forever but for different reasons. Coke itself doesn't fare too well in this story, either - it reminds me of the story in one of my favourite films, "The Coca-Cola Kid".
