The images on this page are given some context and timeplacing and represent a contrast - but they neither justify or explain the response given to the controversy over the European cartoons depicting Mohammed, by fundamentalist Islamics in recent days. Suffice it to say that misunderstanding and hate are universal, even if nothing else in this world seems to be.
